
Finding Spiritual Peace
Many people feel that spirituality is based in religion. While some stand by this, others feel that a level of spirituality can be achieved in other ways. Here are six small ways to feel more
spiritually aware in a hectic world:
‑ Be thankful: Always remember that no matter how bad things may seem, there is always someone who has it worse.
‑ Make time for yourself: Get up an hour earlier every morning and relish the silence. Drink a steaming cup of tea and watch the world come to life. Meditate.
‑ Start a gratitude journal: Record five things that made you feel grateful that day. Even if you have a really bad day, record five things anyway. Gradually, your mindset begins to shift and
you will begin to focus on feeling grateful.
‑ Follow your passions: Never be afraid to follow your dreams. When you live your life following your dreams, life becomes a spiritual journey. You feel more balanced and aware; you feel
complete.
‑ Go for a walk: Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the view! Sit by the ocean, in the forest or anywhere nature's beauty resonates. Marvel at God's creations in quiet solitude. Nothing can
put the spirituality of the universe into focus better than spending time with nature. It is beautiful and very calming.
‑ Visit a cemetery: Some people may find this last suggestion a little unnerving but the cemetery can be one of the most spiritual places on earth. Wander around reading the headstones and
imagine lives gone by. Realize the frailty of life and how quickly time passes. These people once had lives and dreams. Did they reach their goals and make a difference? Did they have happy lives? The solitude of the final resting place provokes feelings of
thankfulness and a newfound eagerness to live. It rejuvenates the spirit and humbles the soul. It's not for everyone but it does put life in perspective.
