The Reality of Crystal Meth

The stories are everywhere and sadly, they are becoming more and more frequent. Crystal meth is finding its way into the hands of all people; despite age, social status or ethnicity. The statistics are staggering and the reality of crystal meth is horrifying. Meth is here in North America and it is out of control.

The reality is heart stopping. On a recent episode of “Oprah”, the issue of meth addiction was addressed ( www.oprah.com). The statistics were eye opening; the Drug Enforcement Agency recently stated that crystal methamphetamine is the number one drug in rural America. It is a drug that discriminates against no one. It finds its way into the hands of the housewife who appears to have it all, the straight A student who is applying to Harvard or the haggard man who sits in the alley. It doesn’t care who it finds but it does guarantee a life of sickness and addiction.

The pace at which crystal meth is traveling to all corners of the earth is a grim reality. Crystal meth is cheap and easy to make. It has turned the safest kitchen in a meth lab from hell; the smartest person into a haggard, scarred shell of their former selves. Meth users can go days without eating or sleeping. Instead, they remain high on meth to maintain their mood and energy level. The physical changes that occur over time to those who meth is astonishing. Please check out the “Faces of Meth” link located at the end of the page and view actual photos of men and women who have been ravaged by the effects of meth use. It is a scary reality.

The scariest reality is the permanent damage that meth inflicts on the brain; damage that cannot be reversed. Check out the following link and see for yourself. http://www2.oprah.com/tows/slide/200505/20050513/slide_20050513_114.jhtml
Toxic chemicals in meth eat away at brain tissue, leaving holes in the brain. Despite this horrifying fact, people choose to continue using meth. Meth stimulates the central nervous system and the high is quick and powerful. Users spend their lives seeking the rush of their first time. Maintaining that high requires frequent use. Over time, the physical damage and addiction leave users unable to stop and the cycle continues.

In reality, meth addiction cannot be treated alone and without outside helps . It is a highly addictive drug that has claimed many lives, ruined more and will stop at nothing to continue its death and misery. Please seek help if you are suffering from meth addiction. The alternatives are deadly as meth use will eventually kill you, mind, body and soul. Please visit www.crystalmeth.org if you need information and a place to start the recovery process. Take the first step and give yourself a chance at life.
