To Busy For Our Own Recovery

Sometimes a person can get so wound up in working with others that he loses his focus on his own program.

The tendency is to spend to much time on projects and other people that we become restless, irritable and discontent.

Though I may think I am being of service to others I can actually move towards becoming a danger to their recovery as well as my own. When we have moved from service work to the R.E.D.
(restless, irritable and discontent) ZONE it becomes very difficult to reclaim our focus on our spiritual and physical health. It is then we are actually in a form of relapse thinking and we all know where that can lead.

So we must always take care of our own physical, spiritual and recreational mind, body and spirit. If we slack off on keeping our focus on God and our program it is suggested that we will return to the Hell hole from which we came. No one wants that.

Meditorial

Before I make a commitment to work with another person I will first commit it unto prayer and meditation for a few days. If I still feel strongly about coming along side another and walking through the recovery process with them I will talk to my Sponsor first.

Seeking out what God wants to do through me and making myself accountable to a sponsor or mentor will allow me to be willing to adjust my priorities in the order that is best for me and in the long run most beneficial for those I currently work with as well as those I may work with in the future.

Recovery Times has but one purpose and goal, and that is to carry the message of 12-Step Recovery  -- as written and practiced in its founding organization's (AA's) unaltered 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, and 12 Concepts for World Service, but not limited to only AA-sanctioned material (such as The Holy Bible, The Koran, The Upanishads, etc.). Recovery Times is not affiliated nor approved with or by any 12 Step organizations.

Recovery Times publishes only each author's opinions or positions on all matters, and doesn't necessarily agree or disagree with anyone on anything. Our Principles and Protocols are expressed beautifully in the Prayer of St. Francis (p.99, 12-Steps and 12-Traditions).
