God Loves a Broken and Contrite Heart

There are so many wonderful stories of hope in recovery. So many victories and stories of success. However, most of us had to be totally broken before we really got serious about living.

Being broken is a good thing though it can be so painful you would think you could not get through it. Nevertheless, it is when we are totally broken that God can work with us.

We are fragile people who think that we are strong.

The power does not come in strength but in weakness and brokenness. A contrite heart. A heart that seeks not its own way but comes to a place where it understands total powerlessness.

Then and only then are we willing to allow God to shape and mold us.

Are you broken yet? If not you may still have a ways to go before you realize that you are powerless. If this is the case, why not walk thought it with God. He will not drop you. However, we must become willing to be 100% honest with Him. We must want to get well. If we are, still thinking we can do, things are own way even just a little then we are far from being broken.

Blessings and Progress to All

Meditorial:

This week I will search my heart and get honest with myself. Am I willing to be broken before God and let go of all of me? If I am not, or if I have not had enough abuse from the world, myself and the alcohol and dope, then I will have to live or die with the consequences.

Hard questions but they must be answered.

Recovery Times has but one purpose and goal, and that is to carry the message of 12-Step Recovery  -- as written and practiced in its founding organization's (AA's) unaltered 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, and 12 Concepts for World Service, but not limited to only AA-sanctioned material (such as The Holy Bible, The Koran, The Upanishads, etc.). Recovery Times is not affiliated nor approved with or by any 12 Step organizations.

Recovery Times publishes only each author's opinions or positions on all matters, and doesn't necessarily agree or disagree with anyone on anything. Our Principles and Protocols are expressed beautifully in the Prayer of St. Francis (p.99, 12-Steps and 12-Traditions).
