KEEP IT SIMPLE?

KIS has been a quote that has come out of the 12 Step fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous for years.  Some folks in AA speak these words much of the time.

Let me ask you this:  Are you simple? Do you think with a simple mind or is your brain made up of all sorts of wonderful imaginings?

Our creator is an extremely complex being.  He would have to be to create you and I but complex does not have to mean confused. Often we tell someone who is confused or who intellectualize to much to "Keep it Simple" because they tend to confuse us.  You and I have spent so much of our time trying to weed out the bad from the good in our recovery that we need a simple answer to a complex problem.  Though God is complex and we will probably never understand Him; He comes to us with a simple and loving plan for our lives.  He opens His arms and simply asks us to believe and follow His ways.  Bill W. and Dr. Bob must of been relieved when they came to this understanding of God.  That "Simple" was a gift from the creator and not something we could ever create. To keep anything simple requires that we believe in a power grater than ourselves and ask Him every day to give us a simple mind and a pure heart.

God, help me today to not confuse things by trying to control everything and everyone around me.  Help to lean on you Lord for the answers as well as the questions.  Help me to understand that simple does not mean stupid. That it means a mind and heart trusting in you.

Recovery Times has but one purpose and goal, and that is to carry the message of 12-Step Recovery  -- as written and practiced in its founding organization's (AA's) unaltered 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, and 12 Concepts for World Service, but not limited to only AA-sanctioned material (such as The Holy Bible, The Koran, The Upanishads, etc.). Recovery Times is not affiliated nor approved with or by any 12 Step organizations.

Recovery Times publishes only each author's opinions or positions on all matters, and doesn't necessarily agree or disagree with anyone on anything. Our Principles and Protocols are expressed beautifully in the Prayer of St. Francis (p.99, 12-Steps and 12-Traditions).
